CES 2011: Sony BRAVIA HX929, HX820, NX720 and EX720 HDTV models introduced
Sony is at CES 2011 introducing its 2011 BRAVIA HDTV line-up. The new BRAVIA models, namely Sony BRAVIA HX929, HX820, NX720 and EX720 now come with improved 2D and 3D image quality, Sony’s branded monolithic design and improved Internet functionality.
Sony steals the show this year by bringing no more than 16 new 3D-ready HDTV models and 22 network capable models. The screen sizes for these new models range from 22 to 65 inches.
Sony BRAVIA HX929 is one of the high-end models in Sony’s 2011 line-up, coming in the beautiful monolithic design branded by Sony and features such as MotionFlow XR 960 and LED local dimming. Sony has also mentioned a new feature which is meant to further improve picture quality in comparison to the 2010 models, the X-Reality Pro system.
Sony’s X-Reality PRO Engine available with the high-end BRAVIA models is a two-chip video processor used to optimize both high and low resolution content as well as compressed HD signals. The lower-end models in the line will feature the X-Reality Engine to optimize this content. Another noticeable feature for the high-end models of the line is Sony’s Intelligent Peak LED backlight using local dimming for deeper blacks.
One of the most noticeable improvements brought by Sony’s new line-up is the Internet connectivity and entertainment options available. Sony’s models come with either Wi-Fi or Ethernet connectivity to your local home network and offer full support for all the major Internet streaming services available. You’ll be able to enjoy music and video through Sony’s BRAVIA Internet Video platform and access services such as Neflix, Amazon VOD, HuluPlus, Crackle, Blip.tv, YouTube as well as Sony’s own services Qriocity and Sony’s Video on Demand.
Further more, you’ll be able to use you iPhone or Android powered smartphone to remote control the new 2011 BRAVIA models from Sony, by installing the free apps available, which also include a QWERTY keyboard for more comfortable web browsing. Another pleasant surprise is the added Skype functionality coming with the new models. You have the option of purchasing Sony’s CMU-BR100 camera and microphone and interact with your family and friends through Skype’s video call functionality.
